今回ご紹介するのはお客様が祖父母様の代から使われていた歴史を知るダイニングチェア。
日本を代表する大手家具メーカー【カリモク】の高級ライン、ドマーニ。
革張りの座面は長年の使用を物語るダメージでしたが、そのフレームは流石。全くグラつきの無い完璧な接合で、とても何十年と経過した椅子とは思えない良い造りです。
--BEFORE The leather covering of the seat is torn, exposing the urethane cushion inside. I kept telling myself I'd get it repaired someday, but I never got around to it, and it had already exceeded its limit as a chair.
As you can see, the leather has lost its oils over the years and is dry and flaky. Just like human skin, if it continues to be dry, it can crack. If you don't give it the right amount of oil and moisture with a moisturizing cream, you won't be able to make your leather products last long.
--AFTER The existing leather is removed, the internal urethane cushion is replaced, and the bag is reborn with genuine Japanese leather. The stitching is finished with piping on the top and bottom, giving the bag a voluminous look while also tightening it up with the piping lines.
The new look. The Bordeaux red color, which will surely develop a beautiful patina and luster over the years, gives off a fresh, youthful energy like never before.
The leather upholstery, which becomes more lustrous and textured the more it is used, matches well with the Domani design.
Fabric reupholstery also produces a beautiful finish, but it cannot compete with leather in terms of durability.
A dining chair that will continue to be loved for decades to come, will the next reupholstery be for the next generation?
I hope to meet this chair again someday, decades from now.
